What you’ll learn

How to ID reed mace, Typha latifolia (often known as bulrush), where to find it and its ecology. We’ll cut some on the day, and you’ll learn how to select, harvest and prep it for weaving.

You’ll learn how to do the attractive ‘fitch’ weave, as well as a few other weaving techniques on your basket, plus a secure border.

Guided by Ruby through all the stages, you’ll leave knowing how to make a reed mace basket from living plant to finished item.
