About this Event

Join Us for the 3rd Annual Domestic Violence Symposium:

"Violence Stops Here: A Community United for Change"

📅 Date: Thursday, October 30, 2025
🕕 Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Doors open at 5:30 PM)
📍 Location: City of Lauderhill Commission Chambers, 5581 W Oakland Park Blvd, Lauderhill, FL 33313

About the Event:

The 3rd Annual “Break the Silence, End Domestic Violence” Symposium is not just a gathering—it is a movement. This year’s theme, "Violence Stops Here: A Community United for Change," calls on leaders, advocates, and community members to stand together in bold defiance of domestic violence and the ripple effect it has on families, schools, and neighborhoods.

As recent tragedies remind us, violence does not stop at city lines. This symposium positions Lauderhill—and all of Broward County—as a united front, declaring that we will not tolerate cycles of abuse, silence, or fear. Together, we can end the violence and build communities rooted in safety, dignity, and respect.

Event Highlights:
  1. Powerful Presentations & Testimonies
Hear directly from survivors who have transformed into victors, alongside professionals and practitioners working daily to break cycles of violence and restore hope.
  2. Community Dialogue & Panel Conversations
Engage in open, solution-focused conversations with leaders, advocates, and fellow residents. Share ideas, ask tough questions, and join in creating actionable change.
  3. Resource Toolkit for Allies
Walk away with a practical toolkit included in the program—equipping you with resources, strategies, and steps to become an active ally in the fight against domestic violence.
  4. Annual Shoe Drive
As part of our tradition, we invite attendees to participate in our Annual Shoe Drive by bringing new or gently worn shoes—the same type you might donate to Goodwill. These shoes will be distributed to individuals and families in shelters, where footwear is often in critically short supply. Many survivors arrive with only the pair they are wearing, and children quickly outgrow the shoes they have. Your contribution ensures that those rebuilding their lives have one less burden to bear. Every donation comes with a raffle ticket for a special prize—because your generosity not only provides comfort, it also brings hope.
