The Notre Dame Glee Club celebrated its Centennial in the 2015-16 school year, welcoming nearly half of its 1200 living alumni back to campus for a reunion celebration and performance. The Club’s membership is drawn from all courses of study at the university; each year they present a wide-ranging repertory in several formal concerts on campus and on tour, as well as in dozens of informal performances at University events. Their concert repertory customarily includes classical a cappella music for men’s chorus as well as folk songs, African-American spirituals, popular arrangements in a wide variety of styles, barbershop harmony, and songs of Notre Dame.  

The Club tours domestically twice each year, and internationally once every other year. Over the last quarter-century, they have performed in over 40 U.S. states and in 20 countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. During the 2025-26 academic year, they are touring in the Midwest and the Southwest US.

In May and June of 2025, they toured Spain, with concerts in many of the nation’s greatest cathedrals; they will return to Europe in May of 2027. 

Among several Glee Club recordings is Christmas at Notre Dame, with the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra. In December 2023 the Glee Club and Symphony took their holiday concert on tour, with performances at distinctive venues including Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh and Verizon Hall in Philadelphia, raising over $25,000 for local food banks.

Director Daniel Stowe (dstowe@nd.edu) has been a member of the University of Notre Dame faculty since 1993. In addition to directing the Glee Club, he is also conductor of the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra and the Notre Dame Collegium Musicum, and teaches music history, choral literature, and conducting.
