Each position, or asana, assumed during class lasts several breath cycles to allow practitioners to ease themselves into complicating forms without getting left behind. It also requires purposeful concentration, as we utilize large muscle groups simultaneously, working through full ranges of motion at the joints. Breathwork techniques, like Pranayama & diaphragmatic breath, will be introduced. Rayce founded Downtown YOGA in 2017 after gaining his RYT200 & CPT-ACE credentials, & graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with Bachelor of Science degrees in Kinesiology & Business Administration- teaching yoga on campus to students, faculty, & staff along the way. His breath-centric class emphasizes techniques known as Pranayama, calls for sensory withdrawal (Pratyahara), & includes meditative elements (Dhyana). About 25-30 postures (Asana) are assumed during this class, spending 5-10 breath cycles (inhales & exhales) in each position, allowing the body to gradually acclimate to the imposed demands, & ultimately deepening the expression of poses as time passes.
