- **Event Description**: The BLM Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Save Red Rock, Friends of Red Rock, and the Las Vegas Astronomical Society invite you to join us for a night of FREE stargazing at Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center, Saturday Feb. 21, 2026, 5 PM to 7:30 PM. MUST ARRIVE BEFORE 5:30 PM.

We'll begin the evening in the amphitheater with a welcome by BLM Red Rock staff at 5:30 PM, followed by a presentation entitled "Mars in Your Hand" with guest speaker and Planetary Science PhD candidate Sierra Ramsey, from the UNLV Dept. of Geoscience. Sierra is also a member of NASA's Mars 2020 science team, which operates the Perseverance Mars rover.

Discover the secrets of Mars and learn how scientists study meteorites to uncover the planet's volcanic history. She will also bring meteorite samples you can touch (including from Mars and the Moon). Telescope viewing with Las Vegas Astronomical Society volunteers in front of the visitor center will run from roughly 6 PM to 7:30 PM.

This event is completely FREE! Gate entrance fees don't apply. Our Astronomy in the Park events are suitable for all ages. If you have a red flashlight or headlamp, please bring it, or cover white lights with two layers of brown paper bag.
