This presentation will briefly discuss reasons why you may want to remove an existing background and add a textured one. The bulk of the presentation will explain the process used to replace the background and will show before and after examples. (Please see the discussion section for an example of replacing a background with a textured background!)

You may want to replace a background if:
1. The subject is great but the background does not do the subject justice, is distracting, or you just don’t like it.
2. You want a painterly look.

We will also have our first print contest of 2026 at this meeting. ​Members are invited to bring 3 prints to the meeting—no restrictions on the subject or when they were taken. Please visit the Contests page for the full rules: https://daphotoclub.org/contests.html

There will be a no host pre-meeting dinner meetup of area photographers at Pastaggio's Italian Restaurant at 5:15 pm. Pastaggio's is located at 3000 Harrelson St, Las Cruces, NM 88005. Dinner meetups are not official events of the Doña Ana Photography Club.

Our in-person meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 518 N. Alameda Blvd, Las Cruces, NM 88005. Enter the parking lot from W. Mountain Ave. and enter through the Parish Hall door at the back of the building.
