Spaceport America’s iconic architecture will serve as the backdrop for an Enchanted Evening Star Party on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025!
Enjoy our night of stargazing and storytelling of the Navajo ancient stories of creation at the world’s first purpose-built commercial spaceport! The unique event takes place right on the runway in front of the Gateway to Space building, (Virgin Galactic’s operational headquarters).
Free of any light pollution, Spaceport America’s remote location perfectly lends itself to one of the most pristine stargazing experiences in the state!
Join Southwest Expeditions and Spaceport America for an enchanted evening, intertwining the ancient, the old and the future!
Follow the route along the 300 -year-old Camino Real de Adentro, and travel to the 21st century Spaceport runway to cozy up to a warm campfire, hear ancient traditional Navajo Coyote stories under the Milky Way, and then enjoy a guided telescope tour of our awesome southern New Mexico night sky!
We start the enchanted evening by meeting up at the historic 1937 former Courthouse, the Grand old Lady, to enjoy hors d'oeuvres, complementary wine, hot coffee, hot chocolates and teas in the former courtroom. We will then leave for the Spaceport.
You have the option of either purchasing a VIP ticket which includes transportation by bus and van, or by following the bus out to the Spaceport in your own vehicle. (The VIP ride in the bus will include some fascinating information from our Native Navajo guide, about the famous "Royal Road to the Interior".
Once at the Spaceport, we will escort everyone out to the runway in front of the massive hanger, set up camp chairs and the fire pits, serve hot coffee/hot chocolate and hot teas, and settle in for the telling of ancient Navajo stories of creation. After the Native storytelling is the "guided tour through the Stars" with two professional astronomers from NMSU! They give an incredible presentation of the night sky and the star systems and will also set up their telescopes for night viewing.
After the star viewing, we will load up and head back to the Courthouse in Las Cruces.
Date/Time: meet at 5:00pm at the courthouse. 251 west Amador, Las Cruces
Approx. completion time and back to the courthouse: 10:00pm
Regular ticketing: $79.00 per ticket plus tax. (You would follow the bus out to the Spaceport)
VIP ticketing: $95.00 per ticket. (You would be transported out and back from the Spaceport, plus storytelling on the bus) Limited seating!
