Las Vegas Stories: At the Sands | The Casino that Shaped Las Vegas
In this talk, author David G. Schwartz takes us inside the legendary Rat Pack hangout the Sands. His recent book, "At the Sands," charts the complete history of the resort, from its first incarnation as LaRue’s nightclub until its 1996 closure and demolition. For decades, much of what happened in Las Vegas happened at the Sands, and Schwartz provides a perspective on just what the famed casino’s legacy is.
David G. Schwartz is a professor and ombuds at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has written several books, including "Grandissimo: The First Emperor of Las Vegas" and the recently-released "At the Sands: The Casino That Shaped Classic Las Vegas, Brought the Rat Pack Together, and Went Out With a Bang."
