Las Vegas aka the City of Sin is a city famed for its vibrant nightlife, centered around casinos open 24 hours round and a host of other entertainment options. Its main street and prime attraction are the Strip, a boulevard just over four miles long and home to hostels with elaborate displays including musical fountains and replicas of the Venetian Grand Canal, the Eiffel Tower and the like.

Besides visiting the city’s attractions, you can also attend some of the happening events in Las Vegas that is iconic to the city. These events draw a large number of people every year. Las Vegas is home to America’s Party, a New Year’s Eve celebration and undoubtedly the biggest Vegas sees in the entire year. The Grand Festival of Beer is held twice a year, in April and October, and is a two-day event in Las Vegas with loads of beer, live music and gastropub food from several local restaurants. Helldoarado Days is an annual carnival held in May celebrating Las Vegas’ Western roots and replete with shooting contests, golf and poker tournaments. Memorial Day weekend sees the country’s biggest EDM+MDMA festival with a carnival theme and is a ‘dance till you drop’ Las Vegas event. Halloween in Las Vegas is a festival like none other and the city plays host to a number of haunted houses, costume parties, club events and so much more. Every November sees the iconic Strip flooded with people running marathons surrounded by neon lights, rock bands along the way and this Rock n Roll Marathon is a Las Vegas 2019 event that you do not want to miss.


Things to do in Las Vegas

With hundreds of events in Las Vegas, there is never a dearth of things to do in Las Vegas, in fact, you’ll struggle to do them all. If you are an adventure junkie, then you will surely enjoy all the adventurous things to do in Las Vegas. Experiencing SkyJump is a must-do thing in Las Vegas. Located at Stratosphere, it is the highest commercial decelerator descent with an official height of 829 ft (253 m). It also holds the Guinness World Record for it. You could also zip line at Bootleg Canyon Flightlinez which involves a 1.5-mile descent over four different zip lines that can reach speed of up to 60 miles per hour. If you would rather chill and enjoy with your friends and family, Las Vegas houses some of the best steak restaurants in the country. If you love steak be sure to head over to SWS Steakhouse, The Wynn and Jean Georges Steakhouse at Aria. Moreover, be sure to visit Vegas’ own Chinatown, located just a few blocks away from the Strip and let your taste buds relish the variety in cuisine and culture. If you don’t want to spend a penny and still be able to do things, there are a few amazing free events in Las Vegas that you have to try. The world’s largest permanent circus can be found at Circus-Circus and you can watch the stunts by the motorists and acrobats for free above the casino every half hour. 

If there's one touristy thing that every tourist must do in Las Vegas, it's a spin on the High Roller, the world’s tallest observatory wheel and not a Ferris wheel, wherein you can stand up, walk around and even have a few drinks. You could also treat yourself to a relaxing spa day at the Mandarin Oriental, a spa housing two levels of steam rooms, vitality pools, beauty treatments, lounges, and all sorts of things dedicated to making you relax and feel better.


Places to Visit in Las Vegas

If you are visiting Las Vegas in 2019, there are certain places that you must visit. The Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam, 726 feet high and a breath-taking engineering feat worth seeing. You could take a guided tour, walk on to the bridge or view it from a boat on Lake Mead. The Mob Museum and the Neon Museum are fun places to visit during the day instead of sleeping all day. Downtown’s Mob Museum chronicles organized crime around the world and Las Vegas, while the Neon Museum houses some of the city’s most iconic signs to help you have a glimpse of Vegas back in the day. You could also visit the unique Atomic Testing Museum. Many free events in Las Vegas are going place this upcoming memorial day weekend. Some of these are at the Light Night Club, Drais Night Club and Drai’s Beach club.

Another brilliant free event in Las Vegas is the Polaroid Fotobar and lastly, another great place to visit, also free of charge, is the ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign.


Art-culture shows and events in Las  Vegas 

Although it may seem that Las Vegas is just famous for its nightclubs, it has a rich culture and tradition to it. Las Vegas boasts of a vibrant nightlife and is home to the Downtown Arts district that houses numerous galleries and is a space that art enthusiasts and curious, avid onlookers throng to, eagerly. The city also has a lively performing arts scene with the Smith Centre for Performing Arts playing host to an assortment of shows like Broadway, dance performances, operas, orchestras, and choirs. Vegas always has a festival underway and it’s the favourite destination for most music festivals and concerts. Most free events in Las Vegas have to do with art. incredible public artworks on the 67-acre CityCenter campus include 15 works by artists such as Nancy Rubin, Claes Oldenburg, and Coosje van Bruggen. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas houses some of the best free art around: there are the so-called Wallworks—murals by artists like Kenny Scharf and Shepard Fairey—on the concrete walls of the parking garage; the eight light columns at check-in with constantly changing videos; and a residency space right on the mezzanine level of the hotel.
