The walk is around the perimeter of The Great Heath starting and finishing at The Heath Church and follows part of the 19th century horse racing track. ?‍♂️?‍♀️? The terrain is largely flat, and open, with views of the Wicklow mountains and the Rock of Dunamase. A small part of the walk is uneven, so suitable footwear is advised. ? The walk will include short talks on local history and archaeology. ? Refreshments at the Community Hall beside the church afterwards. ?

Not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.

The Laois Walks Festival is a non-profit, community-led event. A small booking fee (Adults: €5 & Kids: FREE) helps cover essential insurance, safety, and event costs. ✅ We recommend booking online through Eventbrite (www.eventbrite.ie/o/110609185121) in advance to secure your place. However, participants are also welcome to register and pay in cash on the day of the walk. ?
