Welcome to ScrapFest 15!
If this is your first time here, here's how ScrapFest works. Teams get 1 hour to pick up to 500 lbs of scrap metal (or 250 lbs for the Small Category) from Friedland Industries in Old Town Lansing in early May. They then get 1 month to make a sculpture using the scrap material they picked up from Friedland. In mid-July, we line Turner Rd in Old Town Lansing, Michigan with all of the sculptures for the ScrapFest festival (it's free to enter). The sculptures are juried (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and People's Choice) and are sold via silent auction.
There's also incredible booth artists, who have a scrap material/repurpose focus to their artwork, live music, the Refashion Show (a showcase of garments made from scrap fabric), family activities, food trucks, and more! We also have a documentary series featuring the artists who compete in ScrapFest. Here is Season 2:

SCRAPFEST 15 LOGO
This year's logo (created by @evan_c.design) is inspired by Rich Quinn's sculpture from last year titled "Scrap Fist". The fingers in Rich's sculpture of a hand can be put in any variation, but we went with the peace sign for the logo. Being a milestone year (our 15th year), we used roman numerals, which you can see on both sides of the logo. Thank you, Rich, for letting us be inspired by your sculpture!
But wait, there's more! We actually decided to do a second design that we had only planned to use for the kids t-shirts, but came out so well that we decided we're going to make adult shirts for them as well. We'll be revealing that design soon!
