Dr. Samuel Lemon, Ed.D. will continue the discussion of his fascinating family story, which he documented in his book "Go Stand Upon the Rock: A Family Story", a saga of runaway slaves who found their way to freedom and settled in Delaware County, PA.
This program is a continuation of his zoom program presented on February 7th. In this second part of his presentation, he will discuss the research challenges he faced as he documented the story and how he overcame those hurdles.
Please join us for our first in-person meeting of 2026! We will meet at the Irish Rover Station House (1033 S. Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047), from 11 AM to 3 PM. A buffet lunch including roast beef, turkey breast, stuffed shells, and macaroni and cheese will be offered before Dr. Lemon's presentation. The cost to attend will be $40 per person, for both members and non-members.
Door prizes include an autographed copy of Dr. Lemon's book, an AncestryDNA kit, and a one year membership to Bucksgen (new or renewal).

About the speaker: Dr. Samuel Lemon, Ed.D. grew up in Media, Pennsylvania, where his maternal great-great grandparents arrived as runaway slaves during the Civil War. Given refuge and support by local Quakers, his ancestors prospered and became prominent members of the community. Their descendants have lived on Olive Street in Media since 1872. He recounts their story in his book Go Stand Upon the Rock. Professionally Dr. Lemon has been Program Director at Neumann University; Community Relations Director for the Rose Tree Media School District; and Manager of Community Education Services for WHYY. He is the author of multiple books and articles and is the owner-founder of Buckhorn Press.
