This course creates the basis for all methods and styles of Shiatsu bodywork.
A Practical course suitable for beginners and all bodywork therapists including physiotherapists, personal trainers, sports massage therapists.

Demonstration includes using different techniques in each position to stimulate all the Meridians (energy channels) of the body to promote self-healing for Body, mind, and spirit.
When: weekly classes either Fridays or Saturdays Or 2-week workshop( daily)

Introduction to the history of Shiatsu it principles and techniques
Shiatsu stretch routine and Makko- Ho stretches for the practitioner
Practice management and self-care for the shiatsu practitioner
Working with the Hara, center of gravity
Breathwork & energy awareness ( how to cultivate your Qi)
Side routine, Workshop 4: Front routine.
Clearing energy, self-protection, understanding energy blockages ( Kyo & Jitsu)
A full Shiatsu routine including working the entire body back front sides head & face and incorporating Assisted stretch techniques
The outcome of training:
A therapist will be able to perform a one - one and a half hour full body treatment routine
Various techniques of meridian stretching and applied pressure using hands, elbows, knees
Pressure points and pressure point technique
One-on-one supervision and training
Workbooks include a guided illustration and shiatsu routine
Shiatsu body cloth included
Certification includes the following criteria
100 % Class attendance
Case Studies x 10 to be completed
Certificate issued when all the above criteria are met and the course is paid up in full

Certificates are issued on completion of each course and therapists are registered with the S.A Association for Shiatsu Therapist

UPPER BODY HEAD, NECK & SHOULDERS A short introductory course to shiatsu, its principles, and techniques. Done seated in a chair working the upper body.
AN INTRODUCTION TO TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE(TCM) & SHIATSU – Understanding the theory of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements as applied in Chinese Medicine. What is Qi and how does it work. How to apply this in Shiatsu to assess energy blockages and create individual treatments for specific complaints and conditions.
HARA SHIATSU - ABDOMINAL MASSAGE - Release stress, tension, emotional blockages, detoxify. An abdominal massage routine using oils and working with all the vital organs of the body to release blockages.
SPINAL ALIGNMENT - an advanced workshop focusing on the back & spinal realignment. Incorporate a back massage using oils, acupressure points, shiatsu techniques, stretches
