My Bloody Bernardine is een zeskoppige band van enthousiaste vijftigers met roots in Landgraaf en Valkenburg. De naam verwijst zowel naar het Bernardinuscollege in Heerlen — waarvan de meeste bandleden elkaar al sinds de jaren tachtig kennen — als naar de legendarische shoegazeband My Bloody Valentine. De band speelt indie- en alternative-covers uit de glorietijd van de jaren ’80 en ’90, met nummers van onder anderen David Bowie, The Sound, The Chameleons, Radiohead, Simple Minds, Placebo, The War On Drugs, Editors, The Church, R.E.M., Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, Nick Cave en vele anderen.

Naast deze klassiekers brengt My Bloody Bernardine ook steeds meer eigen werk: eigentijdse indiesongs die naadloos aansluiten bij hun muzikale inspiratiebronnen. De band organiseert jaarlijks het Rock on King’s Day-festival in Valkenburg, speelt regelmatig in Café Pelt in Heerlen (Remember Femina Live) en trad onder meer op tijdens het Cultura Nova-festival.

Voor, tussen en na de sets van My Bloody Bernardine zorgt DJ C-Real (Cyrille Scheepers) voor continuïteit op de dansvloer met zijn unieke vinylcollectie. Wie herinnert het zich nog: de hele avond met je vrienden op of rond de dansvloer hangen en bij de DJ plaatjes aanvragen? Dat gevoel keert binnenkort terug in Theater Landgraaf.
