Kathryn Smith is a journalist and author best known for The Gatekeeper, the first and only biography of Marguerite “Missy” LeHand, Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s private secretary, confidant, advisor, and close friend. Kathryn has spent years researching FDR’s inner circle and frequently brings Missy’s story to life through engaging talks — sometimes even in period costume.

Kathryn is also the co-author, with Kelly Durham, of the Missy LeHand Mystery series, beginning with Shirley Temple Is Missing, with a second novel currently in the works. Her presentations are fascinating, warm, and full of behind-the-scenes history you won’t hear anywhere else.
