About the event

Artomaton Exhibit: Visions of the Fair
Friday, June 27 – 10 AM to 6 PM
Saturday, June 28 – 10 AM to 5 PM
(Meet the Artist: Saturday, June 28 from 3–4 PM)

Immerse yourself in the retro futurescape of Artomaton. Created by theater and film artist Gabriel Aronson—whose design work spans Broadway, Disney, music festivals, and international opera stages—this multimedia exhibit blends world-building, storytelling, and creative experimentation with artificial intelligence to reimagine the spirit of 1960s World’s Fairs.

Artomaton brings to life The Fair, a vividly imagined place suspended between past and future. Visitors can explore collectible souvenirs from its pavilions, peer through vintage-style View-Master reels, and encounter animated prints that spring to life through augmented reality—bringing them face to face with the people and places of the Fair!

A love letter to yesterday’s dreams of tomorrow—carefully unearthed and lovingly rebuilt.
__________

Gabriel Aronson is an Austrian-American designer, animator, and world-builder. Born into a musical family, he was raised in the wings of the Vienna State Opera, where an early love of scenic design and storytelling took root. With his project Artomaton, Gabriel has fused a lifelong fascination with mid-century futurism, theme parks, giallo horror, and mechanical automatons into The Fair—a wondrous retro-futuristic exposition teeming with strange pavilions, compelling characters… and a sometimes sinister underbelly.

Outside of Artomaton, Gabriel has built an international career at the intersection of theater and animation, specializing in projection and video design. His work has appeared on Broadway in productions such as Anastasia, Aladdin, and The Wiz, as well as at the Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, London’s Royal Ballet at Covent Garden, and the West End. He has created visuals for performances by Prince, Mariah Carey, and James Taylor, and contributed content for the Grammy Awards and Golden Globes.

When not tethered to land, he travels as an itinerant animator at sea, creating projection content for shows on a dozen ships with Disney Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean.
