On 27th June, we are delighted to be joined by Lizzie Wilberforce, Head of Terrestrial Nature Reserves at the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. Together with one of our Trustees, she will join us for a meadow walk and help as we identify species along the way.The walk will be 90 minutes, and the hope is that at one of the meadows, we will pause to count the butterflies as part of the Big Butterfly Count.The terrain is walking trails and meadows and is uneven in places. We will be able to offer a lift in the buggy to the main field for those wishing to shorten the journey. We are the first turning on the left over a small green bridge. You will see signs for Glandwr Forest and Penlan at the bridge. Note that the driveway to our site is up a steep hill from the bridge. We are trying to keep the carbon footprint of the project as low as possible, please consider this in your travel plans.What to bringThe grasses are long and there are nettles in places, we strongly recommend long trousers, a long sleeved shirt, and a sun hatClean, sturdy footwear. Please ensure that the soles of boots / shoes are cleanPlenty of sun protection, wind protection or rain protection depending on the dayIt is horsefly season, so you may wish to bring bug sprayA rucksack is also useful.If you normally carry an Epi-pen for severe allergies, please bring it with you.Food & Drinks​Please bring a water bottle and plenty of water. We have treated spring water on site.​If you wish to join us for lunch, The Carbon Community will provide hot drinks, snacks and a lunch suitable for vegetarians, with gluten free options.
