Set sail for one of Lakeside’s signature summer traditions at the 49th Annual Lakeside Sailing Regatta, hosted by the Society of Old Salts (S.O.S.), July 25-26 at the waterfront, weather permitting. This beloved two-day event brings together sailors of all skill levels for friendly competition.
Sailors will compete across four race classes: Junior Sunfish, Senior Sunfish, Double-Handed Sunfish and Single-Handed Laser, welcoming both novice and experienced racers.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. at the Lakeside Sailing Center. Racing begins Saturday, July 25, with the Junior Sunfish Race (ages 15 & under) at 9 a.m., followed by the Senior Sunfish and Laser Races at 11:30 a.m., and the Double-Handed Sunfish Race at 2 p.m. Sunday race times will be announced during the regatta.
On Saturday evening, enjoy the camaraderie off the water at the S.O.S. Potluck Picnic at 6 p.m. on the Pavilion Jennings East Deck. This gathering is open to S.O.S. members, Lakeside Sailing Center staff, regatta participants and their families. S.O.S. will provide fried chicken from The Patio Restaurant, red potatoes and cupcakes, along with paper plates, cups and flatware. Lakeside will supply lemonade and water. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish to share for 6-8 people.
The weekend concludes with an Awards Ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday on the Pavilion West Deck. All are welcome to attend as the winners of the Lakeside Sailing Regatta, A-Gust Cup Sailing Race and the Mouse Island Challenge are recognized. Photos will be taken during the ceremony, followed by a group photo.
Please note that kayak, paddleboard and sailboat rentals will not be available during regatta weekend, and Kids Setting Sail will not be held on Sunday, July 26.
