- **Event Description**: Guided hike through one of Colt Creek's cypress strandsAbout this EventParticipate in a guided swamp walk and learn about why the Green Swamp and cypress domes/strands are so critically important to central Florida and to Colt Creek State Park. Experience the history of the logging industry in Colt Creek State Park, and enjoy a part of the park very few people see. This event is limited to a maximum of 20 people per time slot.Because of the lack of rainfall, this dome is completely dry for the first time in many years. You will experience the dome in a unique way and see things that are not normally visible.- NOTE: The trail is narrow and uneven. However, due to the sensitive nature of the environment, no assistive devices will be permitted other than walking sticks.Recommended: Long pants, long sleeves, hats, sunscreen, snacks and drinks, walking sticks. No open-toed shoes or sandals._ _______________________________Requirements for this event:- Must have the ability to follow visual and/or verbal instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.- Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors in shaded and unshaded areas for a period of up to three hours.- Must have the ability to traverse a variety of surface terrains, including sandy, muddy, rough and wet terrain for up to four miles. Must be able to lift your legs to knee height, step over logs and other obstacles and navigate other hazards, including submerged logs, cypress knees, rocks and plants.-The trail is narrow and uneven. However, due to the sensitive nature of the environment, no assistive devices will be permitted other than walking sticks.- Must be able to withstand exposure to insects, including mosquitos._ ___________________________This event is free with park admission. Entrance fees are $4 per vehicle up to 8 people. We will be meeting at the Blue Heron Pavilion area at 8:15 am.  Gates open at 8:00 am.Due to the popularity of this event, if you cannot attend, please cancel your tickets so that others may attend. - Thank you.
