- **Event Description**: Summer lasts a very long time in Lake Worth, but late June is our favorite part of it: there is magic in the air as the Royal Poinciana trees bloom red and as we approach St. John's Eve (June 23) and the halfway point of the year. This is the time traditionally known as Midsummer, the opposite spoke of the Wheel of the Year from Yuletide. These are the shortest nights of the year, and the longest days. Bees are busy; their hives, full of honey. Hence, St. John is a patron saint of beekeepers. 

It is, as well, a time for love. In Sweden, where Midsommar is a very big deal, they say: "Midsommarnatten är inte lång, men den sätter många vaggor igång." (Or, in English, "Midsummer Night is not long, but it sets many cradles rocking.")

The magic comes through otherworldly portals, too. Many of us believe that William Shakespeare set his famous comedy, "A Midsummer Night's Dream," on this night. In this, our favorite Shakespeare play, we are reminded what fools we mortals be and that the course of true love never did run smooth.

We invite you to come celebrate this wonderful time of year with us. We'll teach you how to make your own floral crown for Midsummer. We'll be serving homemade Midsummer treats. We'll see what other fun Midsummer things we can come up with. All these things are free and on the house, and the shop will be open, too, for fun, eclectic shopping.
