This course is an introduction to EKG monitoring and rhythm interpretation. The course is available for the health care professional who is knowledgeable in anatomy, physiology, and patient care. The participant will learn to correctly apply monitor leads and obtain monitor strips, as well as interpret the strip for rate and rhythm. Course objectives will include criteria for normal and abnormal rhythms . Ample practice will ensure accuracy. Clinical correlation will include discussions of the pathophysiology and hemodynamics of various cardiac rhythms, as well as treatment options. This course objectives will be suitable for the student with little or no previous EKG training but does require minimal skill set. Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required.
