One of the most popular American compositions is Barber’s hauntingly expressive Adagio for Strings. Of her Craftsbury Trio, Walker writes that she wants to capture the “open and stark landscape with a gentle pace of life” in Craftsbury, Vermont. Pärt’s Blank Slate, “a declaration of silence, a manifesto of concentrating on important things,” can change your life.
