Third Place Books welcomes authors Natasha Zimmers and Naja Lund Aparico to our Lake Forest Park store for a storytime featuring Natasha's book Tiny Hikers and Naja's book Seasons by the Lake: Adventures in Greenland. 

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP is not required. Readers of all ages welcome!

 

About Tiny Hikers . . .

The tiny hiker finishes loading up her pack and excitedly gets on the trail, leading her family through the ancient trees toward their beach campsite.

At first it's fun to explore--she finds a hollow log, wriggles under a fallen tree, and spots a slimy slug But then the trail starts getting steeper, and when her legs get tired, she trips on a root and takes a hard fall. Now her knee hurts, her elbows hurt...everything hurts She just wants to give up.

But after a little break, a tasty snack and an exciting glimpse of the beach, the tiny hiker feels better and decides she will make it. With one final scamper over some giant beach logs, she finds the beach. Time to play And at the end of the long day, after sitting by the campfire, the tiny hiker gets cozy in her sleeping bag and falls fast asleep.

 

About Seasons by the Lake. . . 
Spend a year experiencing the seasons in Greenland with two Inuit siblings.

Brothers Minik and Nuka have a whole year of adventures ahead in Greenland, including finding ice shards from glaciers in the spring to picking crowberries during the summer when the sun barely sets.

The darkness of winter reveals Arsarnerit, or the Aurora Borealis, above as the two whisper about the Inuit myth behind the lights.

Greenlandic Inuk author Naja Lund Aparico combines a sweet sibling story with an exploration of the seasons in the Arctic featuring stunning illustrations by German and Choctaw illustrator Alex Nees that captures the sweeping landscape.

Natasha Zimmers loves being outside in all seasons and weather, but her favourite place to be is on a wild west coast beach, backpacking with her own not-so-tiny hikers. She teaches outdoor education and loves seeing the world through the eyes of her students as they discover the wonders of nature. 

Naja Lund Aparico is a Greenlandic Inuk author with a background in international relations and currently a second year MFA graduate student at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) with a focus on creative non-fiction. Having grown up in Greenland, she now lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family. Aparico’s children’s books and essays are centered on the indigenous identity with an emphasis on kin, heritage, and the environment. Her US debut picture book, SEASONS BY THE LAKE, will be published by Dial / PRH in March of 2026, while her second picture book (untitled) is set to be published by Candlewick in late Spring of 2027, and her third picture book will be published by Dial/PRH in late 2027.
