We will concentrate in two areas, spinning consistent yarns and plying. There's so much to cover -- techniques for handling your spindle, direction, angle, and amount of twist (WPI, TPI, grist), balanced yarn. And the plying techniques -- use of quills, Andean plying, plying from singles, and even two ways to chain-ply!This is a class for suspended spindling, though much is pertinent to all kinds of spinning. Students should be able to spin a single yarn that holds together. Materials fee covers class outline, yarns and fiber for practice in class, and two ounces of beautiful white roving from Kim's flock that will make students want to practice more at home!"Kim will have spindles for students to use -- top whorl spindles that weigh just over an ounce.Bring any suspended spindles that you have and any fiber you dream of spinning."
