4 WEEKS: Intro to Pottery

ABOUT THIS EVENT

During this four-week programme at The Cabin at Lairg & District Learning Centre, you will develop your pottery skills and create items to take home.

Throughout the 4 weeks, you will have the opportunity to experiment with different tools, glazes, and firing techniques to create your own unique pieces. Our experienced instructor will guide you through each step of the process, providing tips and tricks to help you improve your skills.

By the end of the course, you will have handmade pottery pieces to take home and show off to your friends and family.
So, join us for a fun and relaxing experience, and unleash your inner artist with our 4-week Introduction to Pottery course!

SCHEDULE:

Week 1.....Introduction to pottery & important health and safety practices in the studio.

Week 2....Use slab building techniques to create tiles.

Week3...How to make a pinch pot.

Week4...How to decorate and use oxides and glazes to create your own unique piece of work.

Any pieces made will need to be cured & fired in the kiln, so pick-up from the Learning Centre (or via Lisa, through prior arrangement) will be expected 1-2 weeks after the lessons have ended.

Funded through the Anne Duchess of Westminster Fund which has been created to tackle rural isolation. The outcomes for this project are improving mental health and wellbeing, increasing social circles, increasing learning and learning new skills.

THE CABIN

Located in our grounds, this Scandinavian log cabin is perfect for arts and crafts, with great light. It is fitted out with four woodworking stations, which pack away, making it suitable for other uses, such as outdoor classes and meetings.
