Is there anything better than spending endless summer days lounging and reading? We say yes there is, and that’s the chance to rehash the book all over again with others who’ve read it too.
This summer, we’re launching “Bookish” at the library, a teen book club for all our teenage reading enthusiasts. Come hang out with others with similar tastes in books over snacks.
We are kicking off the book club with the last book in The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay. The best-selling series by Suzanne Collins explores the effect of restrictive, violent societies with glaring class inequalities on the most marginalised members of such a society. 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen may be a fantasy heroine, but she’s also more relatable than you think.
“The book was 100% better than the film,” according to the Guardian! Read Mockingjay, join the book club and tell us if you agree. Those who come for the first meeting also get to decide what we’re reading next!
Library members can borrow copies from the library; however, our copies are limited and available on a first come first serve basis.
This event is FREE and is suitable for ages 14-19.
Prior registration is mandatory; walk-ins will not be allowed.
