Book Club: The Ice-Candy Man by Bapsi Sidhwa | Lahore
This March, our pick is the enthralling ‘Ice-Candy Man’ by Bapsi Sidhwa, the book on which Deepa Mehta based her highly acclaimed film ‘Earth’. It follows the life of Lenny, a Parsi eight year-old girl, and reflects her innocent yet intelligent perspective of how life changed around her during the time India was divided and Pakistan was born. Sidhwa’s complex portrayal of relationships, betrayals, communal tensions and mass displacement allows the reader powerful insight into a unique point in history.
Join us with your opinions on the book and gear up for an engrossing conversation.
