The Dairy Queen of LaGrange is inviting the community to celebrate Tony Carter Day on Saturday, June 20,  from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. honoring a beloved employee who is marking an extraordinary 45 years of dedicated service.

"I'm really humbled and honored to be celebrating 45 years at Dairy Queen," Carter said. "The DQ owners, Judy and Taylor Merrill, have always been there for me. Dairy Queen is my home, and that's where my family is."

Carter began working at the LaGrange Dairy Queen in 1981, spending the last 45 years behind the grill making sure every customer received a great meal and a warm smile. While Carter is not retiring, the Dairy Queen family wanted to take time to recognize his remarkable commitment and celebrate the impact he has made on generations of employees and customers.
The celebration is being held during Father's Day weekend, a fitting tribute to a man many describe as a father figure, mentor, and friend.

"Tony is the heart and soul of this Dairy Queen," said General Manager James Van Schoor. "For 45 years, he's brought consistency, kindness, and dedication to work every single day. His calm presence, genuine care for people, and love for what he does have touched countless lives. Anyone who knows Tony loves him. He treats coworkers like family, takes pride in every meal he prepares, and represents all that makes our restaurant so special. While he is not retiring yet, we want him to know we want to honor him and let him know how much he means to all of us, at the DQ and in the community."

The event will feature free family activities throughout the day, including face painting, balloon animals, a bounce house, a live DJ, and giveaways. Special food deals and discounts will also be available.

Former employees, longtime customers, and friends of Carter are encouraged to stop by, share memories, and take a photo with him.

"I've worked with a lot of people over the last 45 years, and I really hope a lot of those former employees can stop by the celebration," Carter said. "It would be great to visit with some old friends."
