Andres Villagran has spent over 10 years honing his skills in wildlife conservation and educational interpretation, working with the San Antonio Zoo, San Antonio Botanical Garden, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. During his internship at Balcones Canyonlands, Andres' main goal was to create a project that would live beyond his time at the refuge. In addition to revamping signage and information for the self-guided hike at Doeskin Ranch, Andres also created a guided hike centered on the refuge's indigenous history. Today Andres works for NALCAB, a national nonprofit focused on maximizing the economic contributions of Latinos in the US economy. He lives a rather quiet life in San Antonio with his wife Sam and their two cats, Pucca and Kaia.
