- **Event Name**: The Art of Rest: A Viniyoga Approach to Vitality & Rest
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 28 Feb, 2026 at 01:00 pm – Sat, 28 Feb, 2026 at 04:30 pm
- **Event Description**: Viniyoga Workshop of lecture and practice that will explore breath-centric yoga, pranayama, & yoga nidra for the purposes of cultivating energetic vitality & restful sleep.

In this immersive workshop, we’ll explore how Viniyoga’s breath-centric approach can help regulate the nervous system for both deep rest and renewed vitality.

The first half of the session focuses on yoga for sleep—specialized breath-centric asana sequencing designed to calm the mind, release physical tension, and prepare the body for rest. Each posture will be synchronized with breath ratios that lengthen the exhalation—a key in reducing cortisol and activating the parasympathetic nervous system. We’ll then explore pranayama techniques such as:

Anuloma Krama (gradual inhale breathing) — builds focus and gently extends the breath for deep relaxation.
Chandra Bhedana (left nostril breathing) — cools and quiets the mind before sleep.
Śītalī Prāṇāyāma (cooling breath) — soothes the nervous system and reduces restlessness.
Extended exhale breathing (2:1 or 1:2 ratios) — downregulates heart rate and prepares the mind for meditation or Yoga Nidra.

These practices culminate in a guided Yoga Nidra—a body scan that invites total surrender into the state between waking and sleep.

The second half of the workshop shifts toward morning vitality, introducing breath-centric backbends and simple energizing sequences with pranayama such as:

Bhastrikā (bellows breath) — invigorates and clears dullness.
Inhale-hold ratios (1:1:1 or 1:1:2) — promote alertness and stable energy.

Through this dual exploration—restful and revitalizing—you’ll learn how longer, mindful breaths with intentional holds offer far more physiological and psychological benefit than stimulating or forceful breathing.

Participants will leave with two short home practices:

a 30-minute evening sequence to unwind and prepare for restorative sleep, and
a 30-minute morning sequence to awaken energy with balance and clarity.

Benefits include:

Improved sleep quality and nervous system regulation

Support in decreased stress and anxiety

Enhanced energy and mood balance

Tools for personalized self-regulation using breath and movement

Science-based techniques to lower cortisol levels
