As part of Basin Arts' ProjectSpace Residency, Baylee Bourque and Anna Teer have embarked on a 3-month long residency focused on their project, Magic in the Mundane. Over the past 2 months, Anna and Baylee have been conducting research alongside the Hilliard Art Museum and Basin Arts in preparation for their exhibition. This month's gallery opening is an in-progress opening for the residents to receive feedback and engage with the community regarding their project. Baylee and Anna's final exhibition will take place in March.

Magic in the Mundane is a multidisciplinary art series by ProjectSpace artists Anna Teer and Baylee Bourque, reimagining southern upbringing through wearable mask art and dance. Drawing directly from nature and the artist's childhood experiences, Anna and Baylee have created sculptural masks that embody the overlooked, forgotten, or misunderstood icons of our environment- Images that are often cast aside but hold a deep, personal meaning. By sharing their memories with the community, Anna and Baylee hope to create space for others to recall and share their own "unloved" or forgotten moments. Through building a communal archive of appreciation, curiosity, and ecological respect, Magic in the Mundane is a preservation of the most sacred aspects of the everyday.
