We will be gathering Thursday, 02/12 /25 at 7pm at the Hendry County Extension Building at 1085 Pratt Blvd. LaBelle, for “Fascinating Features You Probably Never Knew About Birds” presented by Cherie Pittillo,
Cherie (cherry) Pittillo, MS Biology, has shared her delightfulness and quirky insight about bird behavior as a columnist for two online Mexican newspapers of The Yucatan Times for 15 years. This incredible adventure began when Cherie moved to the Yucatan in 2007. Then in 2011, while living in Merida, Yucatan, she began photographing, writing, and researching a weekly column. In 2015 she returned to the US and continues to write her monthly wildlife articles. Her program provides excerpts of those articles with common birds we all know ... or thought we did.
Growing up on a dairy farm instilled a life-long appreciation for nature. For eight years Cherie worked as a zookeeper and as the Education Coordinator for the North Carolina Zoo. She is an author and award winning photographer. Cherie’s wide ranging publications include BBC books, her Incredible Journeys, African and US editions of Reader's Digest, Dogs with Jobs, 1000 Places To Travel Before You Die, biology textbooks, calendars, and zoo magazines. Also, she lived in Namibia, Africa.
Her prior talks for HGAS included topics about jaguars, pumas, Roseate Spoonbills, and American Flamingos. For information contact: hgaudubon@gmail.com
