Built around The Quilting Book from DK, a comprehensive guide featuring more than 200 step by step techniques and 85 classic quilt blocks, this class provides a clear, relaxed path to understanding how quilting really works from the ground up.
You will learn not just how to quilt, but why each step matters, so you can leave class feeling confident and ready to continue on your own.

What You’ll Learn
Your instructor will guide you through essential quilting skills at a comfortable pace, including:
- How to measure, cut, and piece accurately
- Understanding fabric grain and layout
- Beginner friendly piecing techniques
- Pressing methods that improve accuracy and reduce bulk
- How to assemble a quilt top and prepare it for quilting
- Quilting and binding basics so you can finish with confidence

Mandatory Supply List
Please bring the following items to class. Familiarity with your sewing machine is required.
- Sewing machine in good working order
- Prior knowledge of threading your machine, winding a bobbin, and inserting the bobbin is required
- Please bring your owner’s manual
- Extra machine needles, size 80/12
- Bobbins
- Thread
- Rotary cutter
- Self healing cutting mat
- Quilting ruler, 6" x 24" or 6 ½" x 24"
- Scissors
- Seam ripper
- Pins or clips
- Pin cushion or small container
- Marking tool of choice
- Pencil
- Blue wash away pen
- Purple air erase pen
- Chaco chalk pen
- Frixion pen
