La Pine (Machine) Embroidery Group
Meets each day in the 3 day series anytime between 9am - 4pm. Check time specifics with the group.
Our Origins
The La Pine Machine Embroidery Group was established in 2009, holding its first meetings at the historic Homestead Quilt Store. Currently we meet at the La Pine Grange.
Over time, the group has grown into a welcoming community hub for individuals passionate about machine embroidery, we also welcome anyone who is a beginner with embroidery machine quilting or just learning to sew. Everyone in the group helps and shares new ideas. We love to watch new people learn and flourish
with their new skills.
Who Can Join
Membership in the group is open to everyone, regardless of skill level. Whether you are an experienced or just beginning your journey, you are invited to participate. Meetings take place three (3) consecutive days every month, everyone helps to unload and load machines from vehicles. The group prides itself on an encouraging supportive environment, with an emphasis on creativity and lighthearted rapport among members.
What We Do Together
During each gathering, members present their current projects, for “Show & Tell” exchange ideas, and learn new techniques. Sometimes if -truth be told- we spend more time laughing about nothing than actually working on our project, everyone has a good time. Each member works on their own project.
Community Support
Throughout the year, the group engages in several projects aimed at supporting the local community. Handmade items are crafted and donated to a variety of organizations in La Pine, Crescent, and Bend. Projects have included pillow cases for veterans, blankets for babies and quilts for various organizations. The group donates peanut butter for the Christmas Food Boxes, items for the Warming Center that supports our homeless community and items needed at the La Pine Grange such as toilet paper and paper towels. These efforts have contributed to helping babies, children, young adults, and adults stay warm during the winter months.
Organizations We Support
In previous years, the group has provided handcrafted goods to local schools, hospitals, neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), women’s shelters, and warming centers. Through these partnerships, members are able to give back to the community and make a meaningful difference with their creative talents.
