Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is a course that teaches individuals how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This training will give you the skills needed to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use challenge or experiencing a crisis.  

Youth Mental Health First Aid removes the fear and hesitation from starting conversations about mental health and substance use challenges.  YMHFA helps prepare individuals by improving their understanding and providing an action plan which teaches people to safely and responsibility identify and address a potential mental illness and/or substance use disorder.   

This training will be held at the BOCES building located at 405 Santa Fe Ave., on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 starting at 10:00 am & ending at 4:00pm.  Two hours of pre-work are required prior to the in-person training.  

Individuals who register for this training will receive more information on June 15, 2026.

Participants need to have their accounts set up no later than Wednesday, June 24, 2026.  Everyone with an active account will be given access to the 2 hour pre-work on Thursday, June 25th.  Again, the pre-work MUST be completed prior to starting the in-person Instructor lead training at 10:00 am.
