- **Event Description**: I am very happy to announce that I will have the first performance of an arrangement of mine in the Chicagoland area. 

The "Battle of Manassas" was composed by Blind Tom Wiggins, whose life story is incredible!
Born blind to a slave family in 1849 Georgia and thought to be a liability, he was a savant musician who toured extensively as a child and among many things, was the first African American to perform at the White House.
 
The "Battle of Manassas" was written when he was just around 11 years old!

The performers are the Chicago Brass Choir conducted by Roger Rocco and Oliver Stark.

The program will include:
Copland, Fanfare for a Common Man
Prokofiev, March from The Love of Three Oranges 
Ewald, Symphony for Brass, last movement 
Ave Verum, Fr Victor 
Tomasi, 4 Liturgical Fanfares 

And, if you like, bring your horn and play along with the group on 
the Gabrieli Canzona per Sonare 2.
