Winter Solstice Plant Walk with Genevieve Arnold

What better way to decompress before the hectic holidays, than by connecting with nature during the winter Solstice?Join us in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains for a fun, winter ramble amongst the native plants of the sage scrub and chaparral. We’ll appreciate the plants, their seasonal adaptations, and habitat in an interactive and conversational setting as we wend our way through about 2 miles of the beautiful Deukmejian Wilderness Park. We may even encounter some wildlife sightings. Finally, we'll finish up at the Stone Barn Nature Center, where you can stay as long as you like to learn more about the nature and history of the park.Walking in southern California's very own Winter Wonderland, we’ll explore a variety of mild to moderately challenging trails, including a dry wash crossing. Bring walking sticks and trail snacks if desired. We look forward to recharging our batteries outdoors this season!This class will be held outdoors. We strongly encourage guests to wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and warm layers. Prepare for up to one hour of walking, potentially on uneven surfaces. Water bottles and sun protection are also recommended.Genevieve Arnold is TPF’s Seed and Conservation Program Manager.
