Time: Meet at Carpool Spot at 6:45a, we will then decide on which cars to bring for the car shuttle. Leaving Carpool Spot at 7:00AM.

Exertion level: Moderate due to distance, otherwise leisurely and mostly downhill
Route conditions: dirt trail, some rocks, gradual slopes, some creeks to cross (low water), 1 steep hill /paved road at end; some areas of the trail may be degraded and washed out.

Description:
This is a leisurely hike through the Gabrielino trail, mostly all downhill, except the last 0.7mile up the road to Angeles Crest from Gould Mesa Campground. We will leave cars at Gould Mesa Rd and Angeles Crest (which is the ending point of this hike) and drive up to Switzer’s Picnic Area with everyone. We will begin at Switzer’s Picnic Area (Adventure Pass required). We will start with the Switzer’s trail until the Switzer’s Camp, proceed up the one small hill, then take the trail to the right going down the Gabrielino trail to Oakwilde campground. We will continue this trail to Paul Little Picnic Area. There is a short cut at this point to hike up to Angeles Crest to the Fire Station, but not suitable for unskilled hikers or a large group as it is steep with loose dirt (0.5miles), so we will continue the Gabrielino trail to Gould Mesa campground and proceed up the steep road (0.7mile) to Angeles Crest, where we have left some cars. This is where we will need a shuttle back to the car(s) parked at Switzer’s, and others can get driven back to carpool spot. Overall, long but leisurely. Bring water, snacks, layers and poles if needed. We will take 2 snack breaks- one along the way and another at Gould Mesa Campground at the end of our journey. You will be hungry, so bring a sandwich. This was a big hit last year and very beautiful with views, canyons and fall colors. The trail may be overgrown, so long sleeves and pants recommended.
