- **Event Description**: The UC San Diego HIV Institute and San Diego Center for AIDS Research are pleased to present the SD CFAR 2018 HIV Research Day. This informative one-day symposium will highlight HIV/AIDS science, with an emphasis on research supported by the San Diego Center for AIDS Research (SD CFAR). This year we will be exploring HIV research from the perspectives of basic/translational science, clinical investigations, and global public health.
From Johns Hopkins University and the Y. R. Gaitonde Centre for AIDS Research and Education (YRG CARE), we are honored to welcome Sunil Suhas Solomon, MBBS, PhD, MPH. Dr. Solomon will present our keynote lecture, ”Integrated care models for key populations in India: Lessons learned." 
This year we are introducing a new tradition for our annual HIV Research Days: The young investigator who submits the best-scoring abstract for Research Day will receive our Emerging Investigator Award in recognition of outstanding scientific effort. The selected author will receive a UC San Diego Bookstore gift card and a 30-minute presentation slot. We are proud of our emerging investigators and delighted to start this new tradition. The award recipient will be announced during the day, so RSVP to hear the news firsthand!

MEALS: Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided for registered participants. Admission is free, and registration is required to guarantee seating and catering orders.
DIRECTIONS AND PARKING: Public transit, ridesharing, or carpooling are your best options. If you are driving, directional signage will guide you to the Osler and Gilman Parking Structures. Directional signage will guide you to each structure and from there to the Medical Education and Telemedicine Building. In either parking structure, you may purchase parking permits at paystations. Paystation permits or faculty/staff permits are required! Your paystation permit allows parking in V, B, or S spaces. Include an extra 20 minutes to cover walking time to and from the Medical Education and Telemedicine Building. Place your permit face up on the driver's side of your car's dashboard.

What is the cost?
Attendance is FREE!
What about airfare and lodging?
Out-of-town presenters whose abstracts are accepted will have their airfare and lodging covered. Other out-of-town guests are on their own. 
What about meals?
Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided. If you have food allergies or special dietary requirements, please indicate your needs on the registration form.
What is the dress code?
Business casual.
Who can attend?
Anyone who is interested in HIV research is welcome to attend the SD CFAR 2018 HIV Research Day. 
Do I need to print out my ticket to get in?
No, just check in at the registration desk.
Can I give my reservation to someone else if I can't make it?
Please email cfar@ucsd.edu to transfer your reservation to another person. Remember to update or cancel your travel arrangements if you transfer your reservation to someone else.
Can people sign up on the day of the event?
We ask for registration by Wednesday, November 28, to guarantee catering. You may register online until Monday, December 3. After that date, please visit the Registration Desk in the courtyard of the Medical Education and Telemedicine Building. Late reservations will be accommodated as space permits, but late registrants may be on their own for meals and snacks.
