In addition to Čiurlionis. Slowed and Reverb performed by the contemporary music ensemble Synaesthesis, the first half will feature classical music gagaku performed by the 1,200-year-old ensemble Kyoto Shichikukai. Within the unique setting of a Noh stage, sound does not expand outward but instead lingers quietly before fading away. If the Tokyo performance invites audiences to immerse themselves in the rich reverberation of a cathedral, the Kyoto performance offers a moment to listen closely to the ma—the space where sound is born and disappears. This program brings together slow-tempo soundscapes and introspective expression in a first-of-its-kind exploration of deep emotion and philosophical themes.
