PechaKucha Night began in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to show their work and has now spread to over 1200 cities worldwide. Theme: Small Words We’ve just wrapped up the first quarter of the 21st century. Somehow the world feels simultaneously bigger and smaller than even before. It’s easy to shrink the distance between any physical expanse online but sometimes it can come at the cost of connecting with our own neighbors. It’s no surprise that some of us turn to local communities to re-establish that human touch in our lives. From the broadly applicable to the hyper-specific, Kyoto has communities of all kinds.
