This is one of two workshops being held by the City. The first is Friday, March 21 from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Kyle City Hall, 100 W. Center St.

These will be come-and-go style events where residents can learn more about the proposed Animal Care Center and share their thoughts on its design and services. The community’s input will play a critical role in shaping the multiple aspects of the center, which will serve as a vital resource for animal welfare in the area.

In addition to the workshops, the City is conducting an online survey to gather feedback from community members. Since 2006, the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter (SMRAS) has served as the open intake shelter for animals in Kyle and throughout Hays County. In 2024, SMRAS announced that it will transition away from serving as the Hays County intake facility after September 30, 2026. In anticipation of this change, the City of Kyle has been proactively planning for the long-term needs of the community's animal services by conducting an Animal Center Feasibility Study. This effort ensures the City is well-positioned to meet the growing needs of both residents and pet population moving forward.
