Only those who have completed Eventbrite registration and received a confirmation email may attend, including attendees needed for accessibility assistance.Join Golden Eagle Audubon on a special guided birding trip along the shores of the Blacks Creek Bird Reserve. We will explore the reserve's eastern shoreline, traveling through unpaved, uneven ground with dense vegetation. We will bird by ear and through spotting scopes to observe foraging shorebirds. This beautiful and diverse habitat offers excellent birding opportunities, with the chance to observe sagebrush desert species, waterfowl, migrating shorebirds, and a variety of other birds that call the reserve home or stop during migration.Recently reported species can be seen here: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L249812Accessibility: The terrain at the reserve includes steep areas with rocks, dense vegetation, and muddy creek banks. This trip may be challenging for those with limitied mobility, and is not wheelchair accessible. This event may be accessible for those who are blind and/or low vision, as there will be opportunites for birding by ear. Please note that Field Trip Leaders will help with bird identification and questions, but are not able to provide one-on-one physical aid or navigational assistance (including sighted guiding) on our trips. Participants are always welcome to arrange any assistance they may need in the field! Please ensure that any assistant is registered to attend this event. Use the special needs question in the registration form to let us know more about your accessibility needs and how we can best support your participation.Birding Skill Level: All levels are welcome! Binoculars will be available to borrow if needed.Age: Participants younger than 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and participants younger than 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the liability release.Time: 7:00am - 10:00am. Check-in is at 6:50am. Please arrive at check-in so we can start on time.: We will meet at the main parking lot for Blacks Creek Reserve, which is the last one before you reach the shooting range. If there is not a vault restroom at your parking lot, it is not the right one. (Click on "Meeting Place" to get precise directions from your location.)There is limited parking available. Please consider carpooling if possible.What to Bring: Sun protection, closed-toe shoes, binoculars, a scope if you have one, water, and snacks as needed. No dogs please.Restroom Availability: Vault restrooms will be available at the parking lot, but their condition varies with maintenance.Inclement Weather: If there is an unhealthy AQI, steady precipitation forecast, or the trails are not suitable for ethical passage, the trip may be cancelled. August can be very hot, and there is little to no shade at the reserve.
