This is the first event from a series of Intuitive Painting events based on six primary emotions - anger, sadness, happiness (joy), fear, surprise and disgust. We are kicking it off with anger, as a continuation of our The Power of Female Rage event (July 4th). As women, we are very often raised and socialized not to express our anger. It is perceived as a negative emotion, connected more with aggression, thus - traditionally associated with men. However, the truth is that anger is an emotion like any other and, by its nature, it is neither bad nor good. It is simply information about what’s happening to our nervous system. For instance, it can help us detect when our boundaries are violated. Connecting to our anger and learning how to express it in a healthy way is crucial to experience the full range of human emotions, and to be healthy. Anger can also be very creative!

This workshop is based on Intuitive Painting - an expressive, meditative process of creating artwork based on our feelings and emotions in the moment, not focused on the proper technique or the desired outcome. We invite you all (women, men and non-binary folk) to give yourself a chance to embrace your inner emotional world and let go of perfectionism. If you think you can’t paint - this event is for you! And if you can - even better! Use it as a self exploration tool!

We will begin the workshop with a short breathing/meditation practice led by our community member, an artist and art teacher, Laura Roztocka, who will also be available for you to answer all your questions and help you navigate this experience. We will be painting with acrylic paints accompanied by music, great company, and some good coffee! 

? After the painting is done, we will end the workshop with a short, guided tai chi practice - it will help us let go of all the emotions we might have felt while painting, and restore the inner balance.
