Title: Internet of Things (IoT) and the Era of Data Analytics
Abstract: The Internet of things enabled systems have become increasingly available in practice. The unprecedented data availability in such connected systems provides significant opportunities for smart data analytics. In this workshop, we address these opportunities through the integration of data analytics with IoT. Specifically, we introduce some fundamental theory and provide real-world examples detailing the transformation of connected systems to smart and connected systems.

Presenter: Prof. Raed Al Kontar, Department of Industrial & Operations Engineering, University of Michigan.
About the Speaker:
Raed Al Kontar is a Professor in the Industrial & Operations Engineering department at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering in 2018 and M.S in Statistics in 2017 from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He also received his B.S in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 2014. His research focuses on developing data analytics and decision-making methodologies specifically tailored for IoT enabled smart and connected systems.
Some of his awards include: Best Paper Award Winner from Quality, Statistics, and Reliability (QSR) Section of INFORMS; Most innovative paper approach from UW Madison; Early Excellence in teaching award from UW Madison; E. Wayne Kay Graduate Scholarship from SME; Gilbreth Memorial Fellowship from IISE; Valedictorian and commencement speaker from American University of Beirut.
