OvO (IT)
OvO returns to their favourite bar to celebrate 25 years on the road!
OvO has always been one of the most active bands in the worldwide noisy rock scene. They have been known pretty much everywhere through more than 1000 gigs, their large amount of releases, including albums, singles, collaborations, tracks on compilations, dvds, and for their original, unique music. They’re a duo, formed by a little possessed singer and guitar player (Stefania Pedretti) and an enormous drummer who plays a mini-set like it was a full metal drum set (Bruno Dorella). Their live performances are legendary, and they’ve played them all over the world, with extensive tours in Europe, North America, Mexico, Asia, including a lot of the main festivals: Roadburn and Le Guess Who? In the Netherlands, The Wire Festival in Chicago, FIMAV in Canada, Supersonic and Desertfest in England, Amplifest in Portugal, Inferno in Norway, Mystic in Poland, Santarcangelo, Krakatoa and Frantic in Italy, Groland and Sonic protest in France, Tomorrow Festival in China.
What they do is not easy to file. It’s not noise, not metal, not doom, not punk, not rock and roll, even if there’s a little bit of all these. Their massive use of electronics even gives them an industrial touch. For once, we can really say that it’s a band you can’t file.
After some full lengths on their label Bar La Muerte, they release albums on American labels such as legendary Load Records and Blossoming Noise, then two albums on Supernatural Cat and one on Dio Drone. With Miasma they started to be released by the Canadian label Artoffact, which will release this new one called Gemma as well.
They collaborated or played with the most important names of contemporary experimental rock music (Alan Dubin, Big Brave, Divide And Dissolve, Raven Chacon, Carla Bozulich, Arabrot, Gnod, KK Null, Godflesh, Psychic TV, Dillinger Escape Plan, Ufomammut, Nadja, Thrones, Body Void among the others), and they worked for cinema projects (Frankenstein, Nosferatu, Inferno) and performing arts (Aeneis V by Lenz, Canto Primo by Gruppo Nanou).
OvO‘s eleventh studio album Gemma, celebrating their twenty-five years of activity, is a manifesto of transformation.
Like a seed that makes a promise, Gemma is not just the title of the album, set to be released on October 3rd, 2025 on CD, vinyl, and digital by the Canadian label Artoffact Records, but also an invitation to regenerate, to rediscover the hidden potential in everything. It is a dance of exploration between human nature, matter, and the mystery of existence.
