ABOUT 'SONGE RITUPARNO'
“Songe Rituparno : A Musical of Emotions”, conceived and presented by Saumya De, a collage of Rituparno Ghosh’s selected writings, lyrics penned by the film-maker, and songs of Rabindranath Tagore, is aimed at paying a tribute to the litterateur Rituparno Ghosh.
Ghosh’s insightful utterances and profound emotions many a time drive us to sense the essential human being within ourselves and gradually evolve into a better one. “Songe Rituparno” is thus a collage of emotions of a life – a life that has inspired and strengthened several others.
DITTHI's 'Songe Rituparno' is privileged to feature the one and only Jaydeep Sinha, along with Diti Chatterjee on musical renditions. Saumya De, Oaishika De and Soumita Chakraborty is presenting the narrations and poetical renditions. Azan Chakrabarti on guitar and Ritwish Dey on keyboard, is assisting them with their musical expertise. And yes, last but not the least, in this episode of 'Songe Rituparno', Moumita Dutta is designing the set and the backdrop.

About Saumya De
Shri Arghya Sen’s tutelage has enabled Saumya De to evolve into a passionate singer. Radio being a major motivating factor since his budding years, Saumya had been a part of 'Community Radio JU' and 'SRFTI Community Radio', an initiative of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India. Saumya De’s association with The Statesman had been another of his long-aspired dreams.
Saumya De, a Master of Arts in English Literature from University of Calcutta, is presently employed as a Bengali Presenter with All India Radio, Kolkata and is engaged in researched presentations involving Bengali music and literature.
About Jaydeep Sinha
Jaydeep Sinha started his training in singing at a tender age. He has been training in Hindustani Classical Music under Guru Dr. Samiran Chattopadhyay who carries the lineage of the Indore Gharana. He received his training in Rabindrasangeet from Late Smt. Maya Sen. He has been mostly undecided about choosing a single genre to become devoted to and hence has maintained his versatility. His first National Level recognition came when he won the All India Radio Music Competition in the category of singing Ghazal, in 2009. Learning Urdu prior to the competition helped him a lot in understanding the poetry, perfecting the diction and enhancing the art form. Since then he has been performing in Akashvani Kolkata. He was associated with ‘Kasba Arghya’ – a prestigious theatre group in Kolkata for more than three years and performed as a lead singer in productions like Urubhangam. Association with the world of theatre itself, helped him to improve his expressions and voice modulation in rendition. At present he is working independently to create a new musical language to implement in theatre. His work in ‘Macbeth Badya’, one of the theatre productions where Jaydeep has created the entire musical score along with Harekrishna Halder and Ayan Mukhopadhyay, was appreciated by legendary Eugenio Barba and Padma Shree B. Jayashree. He has performed in the UK with Pandit Biplab Mondal. He was invited to Bangladesh twice to perform Rabindrasangeet and Ghazals. He also sang in a Polish play 'Strachu Nie Ma' premiered in Warsaw.
He has performed Hindustani Classical at Swarasankula, Mysore and Tete-e-Tete festival. He got some rare opportunities to sing in front of artists and legends like Arati Mukhopadhyay, Prasanna ji, Rameshwari Verma, B Jayashree, Eugenio Barba, Else Marie, Parvathy Baul.
About Diti Chatterjee
At an early age, Diti Chatterjee had begun her musical journey with the training of Hindusthani Classical music by Dipti Mukherjee. She passed Master of Music from University of Calcutta in 2018 with a first class holding the second position. Presently she is taking lessons of Tagore music from Rajasree Bhattacharya and Hindusthani Classical music from Surajit Chatterjee.
About Oaishika De
Oaishika started her journey with recitation at a very young age. She is training under Shri Partha Mukhopadhyay.
About Soumita Chakraborty
Soumita achieved recognition as a host in the health channel ‘U-Turn’. She started her journey from Berhampore and moved to Kolkata to be a Graduate in Computer Sciences from Ashutosh College. Soumita learnt the intricate deail of voice modulation and pronunciation from Shrimati Urmimala Basu. She has appeared for several stage shows as a recitation artist, and has also worked as a Presenter with All India Radio, Murshidabad.
About Azan Chakrabarti
Azan, a student of Physics, begun his musical journey at a very young age being inspired by his father. Later, his 'guitar guru' guided him to become a promising guitarist. And with his creativity and excellence, he has lately composed music for several short films.
About Ritwish Dey
Ritwish, a student of Botany, is a disciple of Shri Pratap Roy and is a promising pianist of the present generation.
