About Goutam Dey: The quest for the rich and varied Socio-cultural heritage of Indian subcontinent has turned Goutam to more of an explorer than a photographer or documentary film maker; though with more than thirty-two years of experience in “Antiquity and Archaeological Photography” across India, Mr. Dey’s work has been appreciated by many. Mr. Amartya Sen, Mr. Gopal Krishna Gandhi (Former Governor of West Bengal and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi) are some of the people who have appreciated his work. His work has been published in various newspapers, journals and books published by numerous publications. Dr. Upinder Singh (Historian and the Head of the History Department at the University of Delhi and the daughter of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Honourable Ex-Prime Minister of India) has used Mr. Dey in a couple of her books, is an example of the same. Mr. Dey has worked on photo-documenting archaeological excavations and important artefacts found during such excavations with the Department of Archaeology, University of Calcutta. His last assignment was with the Bihar Museum at Patna, where he worked as the resident Photographer.

Through this #workshop, I'll impart lessons on the Basics of Photography in the first session followed by a wonderful interactive and participatory session on the technical aspects and aesthetics of antiquity photography.
We can guarantee that this workshop will be extremely beneficial for the #students, enthusiasts and #scholars in the sphere of #Archaeology, #History and #Museology.
It is said that ‘a photograph is worth a thousand words. This phrase is perhaps more applicable with antiquity photography, as most of the viewers may not be able to touch, feel and evaluate the object by themselves. It’s the photographer’s responsibility to represent the object photographically in the most realistic way.
