The agenda item for expanding the 287g program in Knox County has been moved to February, but on January 29th, Commissioner Andy Fox is planning on expounding on the ‘Christian position’ for deporting ‘illegal’ immigrants. 

The commission will also be discussing and voting on R-26-1-904, a proposed resolution from District 7 Commissioner Rhonda Lee that seeks to undermine the positive movement of our school board. It contains information that is both inaccurate and inappropriate. In short, this resolution says:

‘Our Knox County Board of Education’s concerns are overblown, and it goes on to urge the Tennessee General Assembly to support such proposals.’

Please encourage anyone you know who is willing SHOW UP in support of our immigrant neighbors OR to offer a rebuttal to join us.

The largest ‘sign’ we can bring is standard 8.5 x 11 paper, and no sticks or handles. But bring colorful and highly viewable shows of support! Let the County Commission know Knoxville LOVES THEIR IMMIGRANT NEIGHBORS and we demand our elected officials do the right and decent thing.
