Second Friday with Marc Archer

My name is Marc Archer. I’ve spent the past 25 years as a graphic designer creating logos, brochures, billboards and websites for small businesses and nonprofits. In my free time, I try to be creative in ways that can express my full artistic vision. I cook, write songs, design furniture and paint.

With my abstract art I want to capture things that can't be seen: feelings, longings, brief moments in time. Each painting is personal to me but (hopefully) expresses a universal truth. That way each viewer can, through their own history and feelings, find a meaning that is unique to them.

The paintings are acrylic on plywood. I build my own canvases and incorporate pages torn from books that in many cases are "banned." It's a subtle way of adding the message that ideas have intrinsic value and beg to be heard.
